"Germany's next Topmodel": Heidi dedicates a fashion show to this designer

The first men's fashion show on "Germany's next Top Model" is all about Karl Lagerfeld. A late reconciliation for Heidi Klum?
An unexpected reconciliation or a tongue-in-cheek dig? Heidi Klum (51) is dedicating the first men's fashion show of the current season of "Germany's next Topmodel" to none other than Karl Lagerfeld (1933-2019), who was notoriously not a big fan of the model throughout his life. As ProSieben announced in a press release, the next edition of the casting show will be all about the German fashion tsar, who shaped the fashion world for more than five decades.
Hun Kim, the current creative director of the label "Karl Lagerfeld", will be supporting Heidi Klum in the episode, which will be broadcast on ProSieben on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. The model mom has also brought supermodel Eva Herzigová (51) to her side, who has worked with Lagerfeld several times herself.
For Klum's male models, the challenge of walking the runway in looks by Karl Lagerfeld is a great honor: "No other season was the first fashion show for such a big name. There couldn't be anything better," candidate Kevin is quoted as saying in a press release. "If Karl Lagerfeld knew that, he would turn in his grave," jokes candidate Eliob.
Karl Lagerfeld on Heidi Klum: "I don't know her"Karl Lagerfeld himself never made a secret of the fact that he didn't have much of a thing for Heidi Klum during his lifetime. In 2009, he made it unmistakably clear on the ZDF talk show hosted by Johannes B. Kerner (60) that in his eyes she was not part of the elite of the fashion world: "I don't know her. [...] Claudia (Schiffer) doesn't know her either. She's never been to Paris, we don't know her," was his devastating verdict.

The fact is: Heidi Klum never really made it into haute couture. Although she graced the covers of numerous glossy magazines, she was primarily an advertising face and not a designer muse. While Lagerfeld worked with models such as Claudia Schiffer (54), Kate Moss (51) and Cara Delevingne (32), Klum was primarily successful in the USA with Victoria's Secret and TV formats. There was never a "reconciliation" between the two until Lagerfeld's death in 2019. The fact that Klum is now honoring him of all people seems almost like an ironic revenge on a fashion world that never fully accepted her.
